Job summary

Carmichael UK are seeking a competent Site Engineer to join a major Plymouth project on a long-term basis. Due to the high-security base, BPSS level security clearance is required and can take 4–6 weeks to process.

Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK residence for the last 5 years can be considered for this role. As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for setting out works, producing and maintaining drawings, and ensuring quality and safety

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent.
• SSSTS qualification.
• CSCS White PQP/AQP.
• May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE or equivalent.
• Experience in a similar site engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare as-built drawings and maintain drawing register.
• Establish and update project quality plans and systems.
• Manage progress against time, quality, dimensions and quantity.
• Record and test workmanship and materials (drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork).
• Provide engineering support to resolve technical problems and queries.
• Set out works within allowable tolerances.
• Check setting out points and calibration of instruments.
• Ensure setting out information is understood by the workforce.
• Prepare sketches for distribution on site and maintain clear communication.
• Maintain setting out and dimensional control for accurate construction.
• Record instructions and maintain the drawing register.

Job description

Carmichael UK are seeking a competent Site Engineer to join a major project in Plymouth on a long term basis.

Due to the site being a high Security base, additional security checks will need to be made BPSS level of security clearance is required. These checks can take up to 4-6 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK residence for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.

As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

• Manage in the preparation of as-built drawings .
• Establishing effective systems to record work completed updating the Project Quality Plan accordingly.
• To manage in managing systems to enable the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions and quantity.
• Assist in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork etc.
• Provides engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered.
• Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances.
• Regularly checking the setting out points and benchmarks and checking that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.
• Ensures workforce understand setting out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out.
• Manage the preparation of sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels are in place for effective understanding.
• Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work.
• Record instructions.
• Maintain drawing register.

Who are we looking for?

• Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable one or more of: BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship.
