Job summary

Infocus Resources is seeking qualified civil engineers for site-based roles in Plymouth. The candidate will manage setting out, documentation, and QA/QC activities, supporting project delivery through accurate record-keeping and communication.

Responsibilities include early-stage drawings, monitoring progress against time and quality targets, and ensuring equipment calibration is maintained. A lodge allowance is provided along with field-based entry.

Qualifications

• Civil engineering qualification required (HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng).
• SMSTS certification desirable and CSCS White PQP/AQP or Black Managers may be required.
• Chartered status or pursuing incorporation with a professional body encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 'as-built' drawings and record work completed in the Project Quality Plan.
• Develop systems to track progress in time, quality, and quantity.
• Assist in recording and testing workmanship and materials (drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork).
• Provide engineering support to resolve technical problems and queries.

Job description

Location: Plymouth (Lodge Allowance provided)

Eligibility criteria: Many positions within the project are subject to national security clearance restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage in the preparation of 'as-built drawings'.


• Establishing effective systems to record work completed updating the Project Quality Plan accordingly.


• To manage systems for enabling the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions and quantity.


• Assist in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork etc.


• Provides engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered.


• Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances.


• Regularly checking the setting out points and benchmarks and checking that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.


• Ensures workforce understand setting out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out.


• Manage the preparation of sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels are in place for effective understanding.


• Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work.


• Record instructions and maintain drawing register.


• Understanding concrete reinforcement, detailing, and sequencing


• Formwork & Falsework


• TWC Certification - Temporary Works - FRC experience


• Experience in reviewing and producing TWD Briefs


• Experience in short term planning 6WKLAH


• Experience in developing / producing constructability reviews and documentation / planning for heavy FRC works.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Academic Qualifications - Civil Engineering related Qualification (HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng)


• SMSTS


• CSCS - White PQP/AQP or Black Managers


• May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE or other appropriate professional body.
