Job summary

Randstad UK is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading principal delivery contractor on a Water Treatment Works project in Waterlooville, Hampshire. The role covers the ECI phase and early site preparation under the AMP8 framework, offering a long-term contract with continuity.

Responsibilities include setting out, surveying, issuing Permits to Dig, reviewing designs, handling RFIs, and supervising civils teams, under the Site Manager.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a Site Engineer on UK water/wastewater schemes.
• Experience in early site setups, trial hole investigations, and groundworks.
• HND/HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Mandatory tickets: CSCS Card, SSSTS or SMSTS, and EUSR National Water Hygiene Card.
• Desirable: First Aid at Work, CAT & Genny training, Temporary Works Supervisor certification.

Responsibilities

• Set out and survey using GPS and Total Station for ground investigations and site establishment works.
• Issue and enforce Permits to Dig; perform utility location checks before breaking ground.
• Review design models and respond to RFIs during ECI stage.
• Implement ITPs, track tolerances, and maintain site diaries to meet specifications.
• Supervise survey teams and civils gangs alongside the Site Manager and Foreman.

Site Engineer (Water Infrastructure / ECI Phase)

Are you an experienced Site Engineer looking to play a pivotal role in a critical infrastructure project? We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join a leading principal delivery contractor for the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and initial site preparation phase of a major Water Treatment Works (WTW) scheme in Waterlooville. This long-term contract offers excellent project continuity as the site transitions from initial investigations through to full civil engineering delivery under the AMP8 framework.

Project Details

• Location:Waterlooville, Hampshire
• Contract Rate:£350 - £400 per day depending on experience (LTD - IR35 Determination Pending)
• Duration:Long-Term Contract (AMP8 Framework)
• Start Date:Immediate / ASAP

Responsibilities

• Setting Out & Surveying:Execute precise setting out and topographic verification for ground investigations, trial holes, utility diversions, deep drainage, and site establishment works using modern GPS and Total Station equipment.
• Service Avoidance & Permits:Issue and enforce Permits to Dig, conducting comprehensive underground utility location checks using CAT & Genny equipment prior to breaking ground.
• Technical Interface:Review design models and construction drawings to resolve Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) early during the ECI stage.
• Quality & Assurance:Implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), track site tolerances, record daily site diaries, and ensure strict compliance with client specifications and water authority standards.
• Site Supervision:Work alongside the Site Manager and General Foreman to supervise specialist survey teams, ground investigation contractors, and early civils gangs.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a Site Engineer delivering civil engineering or asset upgrade schemes on UK water or wastewater facilities (WTW / WwTW).
• Practical setting out experience on early site setups, trial hole investigations, utility tracing, and groundworks.
• HND, HNC, or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent practical industry experience).
• Mandatory Tickets:Valid CSCS Card (Gold/Black or Academic/Professionally Qualified), SSSTS or SMSTS, and EUSR National Water Hygiene Card.
• Desirable:First Aid at Work, CAT & Genny / Service Avoidance training, and Temporary Works Supervisor certification.
