Job summary

engstaff-in is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading UK-wide infrastructure contractor on water and wastewater projects in the Thames Valley. You will take ownership of technical delivery on site, working with project managers and construction teams to drive quality, safety and programme adherence.

The role offers real career development, opportunities to progress to Senior Site Engineer, and exposure to AMP8-scale programmes with a busy delivery team.

Qualifications

• Experience with civil/infrastructure projects and water, utilities or similar sectors.
• Solid setting-out and surveying knowledge with ability to read drawings and specs.
• Experience with QA documentation, inspections and as-built records.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures and permit-to-work processes.
• CSCS card holder with full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day site engineering activities including setting out and surveying.
• Support delivery of large water and wastewater infrastructure schemes across sites.
• Collaborate with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors and design teams to keep projects safe and on programme.
• Ensure works meet drawings, specs, quality standards and deadlines.
• Maintain site records, QA documentation and technical reports.

Are you an experienced Site Engineer looking to get involved in major infrastructure projects, develop your technical expertise and progress your career with an established Tier 1 contractor

I'm working closely with a leading UK-wide infrastructure contractor that's expanding its engineering team across the Thames Valley, following a significant programme of secured work within the water sector.

With major investment underway through AMP8, this is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a busy, well-established delivery team working on essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

You'll be involved in a varied portfolio of schemes, from capital maintenance and civil engineering works through to complex, multidisciplinary treatment works upgrades.

This isn't just another setting-out position. You'll have genuine ownership of the technical delivery on site, working alongside experienced Project Managers, engineers and construction teams, with excellent opportunities to develop your responsibilities and progress longer-term.

What You'll Be Doing

• Taking ownership of day-to-day site engineering activities, including setting out, surveying, engineering control and technical delivery.
• Supporting the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure schemes across multiple sites.
• Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors and design teams to keep projects running safely and efficiently.
• Ensuring construction works meet the required drawings, specifications, quality standards and programme deadlines.
• Managing site records, QA documentation, inspections, as-built drawings and technical reporting.
• Supporting project planning, resolving technical challenges and contributing to efficient construction methodologies.
• Helping develop Graduate and Trainee Engineers as you progress within the team.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with Site Engineers who have a solid grounding in civil engineering and are looking to take the next step with a contractor offering long-term project security and career development.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Previous Site Engineering experience within civils, infrastructure, utilities or water projects.
• Strong setting-out, surveying and general site engineering knowledge.
• Experience working for a main contractor or principal contractor.
• A Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• A good understanding of construction drawings, quality assurance and health & safety procedures.
• A valid CSCS card and full UK driving licence.

Water sector experience would be beneficial, but isn't essential. Engineers from wider civil engineering and infrastructure backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Additional qualifications such as SMSTS/SSSTS, First Aid or Temporary Works would be advantageous.
