Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking a motivated Site Engineer to support delivery of major high-voltage infrastructure projects in Inverness, Scottish Highlands. You will play a key role in planning, coordination and safe, high-quality delivery on site, with a clear path for career development within a long-term programme.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Site Engineer on construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities projects.
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience conducting setting out and surveying on construction projects.
  • Experience assisting with risk assessments and method statements.
  • Knowledge of temporary works processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in surveying and engineering software and technologies including GPS, AutoCAD, and BIM.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and site management practices.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental performance.
  • Experience on electrical infrastructure projects (desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction activities.

  • Assist in risk assessments and method statements.
  • Support management of site resources, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Monitor progress and provide updates to project teams.
  • Maintain site records, quality documentation, and project reports.
  • Assist with temporary works coordination.
  • Prepare as-built records and handover documentation.
  • Promote a positive health, safety, environmental, and quality culture on site.
  • Collaborate with construction, engineering and commercial teams to resolve issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and efficient delivery of objectives.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction activities to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Conduct setting out and surveying activities, ensuring works are constructed in accordance with design specifications.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Support the management and coordination of site resources, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Monitor progress on site and provide accurate updates to project teams and management.
  • Maintain comprehensive site records, quality documentation, and project reports.
  • Assist with the management and coordination of temporary works activities.
  • Prepare and manage as-built records and handover documentation.

  • Collaborate closely with construction, engineering, and commercial teams to resolve technical issues and improve project performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and the efficient delivery of project objectives.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
  • Experience working as a Site Engineer within a construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or utilities environment.
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.
  • Experience conducting setting out and surveying activities on construction projects.
  • Experience assisting with the preparation of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of temporary works processes and procedures.

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
