Job summary

Ridgeway & Co are recruiting a Site Engineer with strong groundworks experience for a civil engineering project in Great Yarmouth. You will set out, survey and supervise activities across groundworks packages, ensuring accuracy against drawings, specs and project requirements.

The role offers a freelance/contract arrangement with a competitive £300-£400/day rate. You will work closely with the site team, managers and subcontractors, maintaining records and ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer in civil engineering and groundworks.
• Strong setting-out and surveying experience for foundations, drainage and infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with Total Stations, GPS/GNSS and levelling instruments.
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and Microsoft Office.
• CSCS card validity.
• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent preferred; right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out setting out and surveying across groundworks and civil engineering packages.
• Setting out foundations, drainage, roads, kerbs, levels and infrastructure works.
• Using Total Stations, GPS/GNSS and levelling equipment to ensure accurate setting out.
• Interpreting construction drawings, specifications and site plans.
• Monitoring the quality and accuracy of works, resolving engineering issues on site.
• Liaising with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors and the delivery team.
• Maintaining accurate site records and surveying documentation.
• Ensuring works comply with health and safety requirements and project specs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting out, surveying and overseeing engineering activities across groundworks packages, ensuring works are completed accurately in line with drawings, specifications and project requirements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering and groundworks.
• Strong setting-out and surveying experience, particularly with foundations, drainage and infrastructure works.
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience using Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment and levelling instruments.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and Microsoft Office.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Civil Engineering degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Full right to work in the UK.
