Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick is seeking an ambitious Site Engineer to join the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) on long-term rail infrastructure projects, based from our Gravesend office in Kent.

You will work within the Earthworks team, gaining hands-on experience on complex civil schemes while collaborating with engineers, project managers and specialists to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes for rail customers.

Qualifications

• Relevant civil engineering degree or equivalent.
• Rail experience beneficial but not essential.
• Understanding of construction and project delivery principles.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commercial and business awareness.
• Proactive approach and willingness to learn.

Job description

VolkerFitzpatrick offers a range and depth of civil engineering, infrastructure and building services. We contribute to vital parts of the nation’s life through projects of strategic importance, while delivering those less visible, yet essential, works required by both private and public sectors. We build, renew, maintain highways, airports, railway infrastructure, and commercial, industrial and educational buildings.

We're looking for an ambitious Site Engineer to join our team on the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE), a long-term 10-year framework with Network Rail that is transforming and renewing rail infrastructure across the Southern Route.

As part of our Earthworks team, you'll be based from our Gravesend office and work across a variety of projects throughout Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is looking to build their career on complex infrastructure projects while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive, collaborative environment.

This role offers far more than day-to-day site engineering responsibilities. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, project managers and technical specialists, developing your skills while contributing to projects that make a real difference.

About You

• MEng, BEng, Foundation Degree, Degree or BTEC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience within the civil engineering industry, with rail experience beneficial but not essential
• An understanding of construction and project delivery principles
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Commercial and business awareness
• A proactive approach and desire to continuously learn and develop
