Job summary

Acorn by Synergy is recruiting a freelance Setting Out Engineer to join a busy commercial construction project in Exeter. You will carry out setting out for groundworks, foundations and structural elements, interpreting drawings and site plans on site.

The role is a minimum three‑month contract, full‑time temporary, with potential for extension and a competitive hourly rate of £40‑£42 CIS. Immediate availability is preferred for this on‑site position.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Setting Out Engineer on commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of site surveying and construction methods.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• CSCS card required.
• Own setting out kit/equipment (total station, GPS, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out for groundworks, foundations and structural elements.
• Interpret drawings and site plans accurately.
• Conduct surveys and checks to ensure works meet specification.
• Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors.
• Maintain QA records and as-built information.
