Job summary

Cityscape Recruitment is seeking an experienced Freelance Setting Out Engineer for a major regeneration project across two sites in Central London. The role offers a long-term contract with a well-established contractor on residential and infrastructure works.

You will deliver precise setting out, supervise surveys, and coordinate with the Site Manager and subcontractors. A CSCS card and equipment are preferred, with a competitive day rate and immediate start for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on RC frame, commercial, or major civil engineering projects.
• A valid CSCS Card.
• Experience using Leica, Trimble, or equivalent surveying equipment.
• Your own setting-out equipment (desirable and reflected in the day rate).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently on a busy construction site.

Responsibilities

• Setting out for roads, drainage, foundations, groundworks, and residential units.
• Conducting site surveys and producing accurate setting-out data.
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
• Maintaining accurate records and as-built information.
• Liaising with the Site Manager, Senior Engineer, and subcontractors to coordinate daily activities.
• Identifying and resolving engineering issues on site.
• Promoting high standards of health, safety, and quality throughout the project.

About the Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Setting Out Engineer to join a major regeneration project across two sites in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term contract with a well-established contractor working on a significant residential and infrastructure development.

Contract Details

• Location: Two sites in Central London
• Duration: 2 years
• Day Rate: £300 - £400 per day, depending on experience and whether you can provide your own setting-out equipment

The Role

As part of the site engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering accurate setting out across a large residential and infrastructure package, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project programmes.
