Job summary

Randstad CPE are seeking a hands-on Site Engineer for a renewables solar farm project near Exeter. You will drive setting-out, manage subcontractors, and oversee safety and quality on site.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will maintain daily site diaries, track progress, and ensure RAMS compliance while coordinating with installation teams.

Qualifications

• Experience on solar farm schemes or heavy groundworks.
• Proficient with robotic total stations and GPS surveying.
• Experience managing small subcontractors and direct labour.
• CSCS card and SMSTS/SSSTS.
• Available to start immediately in Exeter with a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Setting out: precise dimensional control for pile foundations, array frames, inverter stations, perimeter fencing, and internal access tracks.
• Subcontractor management on site; keep teams organized and meet daily production targets.
• Quality assurance: on-site QC, as-built surveys, ensure installations meet specs.
• Site supervision: daily site diaries, track progress against lookahead schedules, resolve queries.
• HSEQ compliance: enforce site safety standards, inductions, RAMS compliance.

We are recruiting a hands-on Site Engineer to join a leading renewables and infrastructure contractor on a commercial solar farm scheme near Exeter. This is an immediate start opportunity for a setting-out engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable taking active charge of daily site management.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will drive technical accuracy on the ground while taking responsibility for subcontractor management. Your day-to-day will involve:

• Setting Out: Executing precise dimensional control for pile foundations, array frames, inverter stations, perimeter fencing, and internal access tracks.
• Subcontractor Management: Managing small specialist subcontractors on site, keeping teams organized, and driving daily production targets.
• Quality Assurance: Managing quality control on the ground, carrying out as-built surveys, and ensuring installations meet project specifications.
• Site Supervision: Keeping detailed daily site diaries, tracking progress against lookahead schedules, and resolving technical site queries quickly.
• HSEQ Compliance: Enforcing strict site safety standards, carrying out site inductions, and ensuring compliance with RAMS.

Essential Requirements

• Renewable / Groundworks Experience: Proven track record as a Site Engineer on solar farm schemes, heavy groundworks, or land development projects.
• Setting-Out Precision: Highly proficient in using modern robotic total stations and GPS surveying equipment.
• Subcontractor Oversight: Demonstrated experience managing small sub-contractors and direct labor teams on site.
• Site Credentials: Valid CSCS card and SMSTS or SSSTS.
• Availability: Immediately available to start on site in Exeter with a full UK driving licence.
