Job Description Summary

We are looking for a site based EHS Manager to join our Grid Solutions in Staffordshire on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a site-based role with responsibility for leading environmental, health and safety activity across a varied operational environment, including manufacturing and production operations, as well as office-based functions such as HR, Planning, Supply Chain and Purchasing.

You will play a central role in driving a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with GE Vernova EHS standards and Life Saving Rules, and supporting the safe day-to-day running of the site. Working across multiple functions, you will help implement EHS procedures, deliver training, carry out inspections, support risk reduction, and promote high standards of safety and compliance at all levels of the organisation.

This role will suit an experienced EHS professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. You will be comfortable working across both operational and office-based settings, combining practical site support with clear leadership and a proactive, prevention-focused approach.

Job Description
  • Lead the site EHS strategy, ensuring alignment with GE Vernova standards, business priorities, and all applicable UK legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive EHS performance across the site, partnering with the cross-functional leadership team to build a strong, proactive safety culture and support safe day-to-day operations.
  • Develop, review, and maintain risk assessments, EHS plans, work procedures, and site controls to ensure compliance with GE Vernova requirements, Life Saving Rules, and industry standards.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, assess their impact on site operations, and ensure standards and practices remain current and compliant.
  • Lead incident prevention and injury reduction initiatives, ensuring accidents, incidents, and non-conformities are fully investigated, root causes are identified, and corrective actions are implemented and tracked to closure.
  • Share lessons learned and best practice across the site, and work with wider GE Vernova and GA EHS networks to drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as the site lead for the EHS Management System, including implementation and adherence to GE Vernova Framework 3.0, development of action plans, and coordination with element owners.
  • Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification activity, including audits, gap actions, and ongoing management system improvement.
  • Oversee environmental programmes across the site, including waste management, emissions, energy use, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure effective contractor management, including safe systems of work, compliance with EHS procedures, and appropriate oversight of external contractors and contingent workers.
  • Manage site EHS permits and ensure all required approvals are identified, submitted, and maintained in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain the site emergency response plan and incident management process, including drills, reviews, action tracking, and ongoing readiness.
  • Act as the key EHS contact for employee representatives and committees, ensuring open communication, effective engagement, and appropriate follow-up of concerns raised.
  • Plan and deliver EHS inspections, Genba walks, and compliance reviews, ensuring findings are addressed through clear corrective and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate EHS training and awareness activity across the site, including employee, contractor, and regulatory training requirements, and track completion and compliance.
  • Manage EHS reporting, site KPIs, audits, and regular review meetings, providing clear updates to senior leadership on performance, risks, and strategic priorities.
Candidate Requirements
  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent recognised health and safety certification.
  • IOSH membership, certification, or a similar professional EHS credential.
  • Significant EHS experience in a multinational or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of French and EU EHS regulations.
  • Certification or working knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or equivalent standards would be an advantage.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing or supporting cross-site teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English, written and verbal.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organisation and work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
