Job summary

Biffa is seeking an MBT Site Driver for a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026, with a potential to become permanent. The role pays £33,637 per annum and involves daily container change-overs at the MBT facility, ensuring safe handling of skips, trailers, bins and equipment to meet productivity targets.

Shifts are Monday to Friday: Week 1 06:00-14:00, Week 2 14:00-22:00, Week 3 10:00-18:00. A strong safety culture and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• HGV licence(s) desirable, with Class 2 also considered.
• Experience with Roll-on Roll-off (RORO) vehicles and forklifts/telehandlers.
• Good safety awareness and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day change-overs of containers to maintain productivity.
• Ensure all skips, trailers, bins and equipment are stored safely and accessibly.
• Report safety or environmental issues to management and support staff.

MBT Site Driver

Salary: £33,637 per annum

Monday to Friday, Week 1 06:00-14:00, Week 2 14:00-22:00, Week 3 10:00-18:00

As part of our driving team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day change-over of containers to maintain the optimal productivity at our MBT facility, ensuring that recycling and diversion targets are met. You will ensure all skips, trailers, bins and equipment are stored in a safe and efficient manner, with ease of access. Reporting all safety or environment issues to Management, and where appropriate, to internal support services staff is essential.

Essential Criteria for this role:

• HGV class 1 license (desirable), HGV class 2 also considered and ideally trained to use Roll-on Roll-off (RORO) vehicles as well as forklift trucks (telehandler machines).


• Team player with high levels of drive and flexibility.


• Understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance.


• Good people skills, be able to communicate at all levels.


• Good organisation/Planning skills.
