Job summary

Biffa Waste Services is seeking an MBT Site Driver for a fixed-term contract ending 31 March 2026, with potential permanency. Salary is £33,637 per year.

The role involves day-to-day change‑overs of containers at the MBT facility to keep productivity high, while maintaining safety and storage of equipment. Shifts include early mornings and nights on a 10-hour pattern, with two hours daily paid at time plus half.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 1 license is desirable; Class 2 considered.
• Experience or training with Roll-on Roll-off (RORO) vehicles and forklift/telehandler would be advantageous.
• Strong teamwork, communication and planning skills, with adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day change-over of containers to maintain productivity at MBT facility.
• Ensure all skips, trailers, bins and equipment are stored safely and accessibly.
• Report safety or environmental issues to management and relevant support staff.

Job description

MBT Site Driver

This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2026 with potential to become permanent.

Salary: £33,637 per annum.

Monday to Friday 06:00-16:00 and 18:00-04:00 alternate days and nights - 10 hour shift requirements for which 2 hours per day are paid at time plus half As part of our driving team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day change-over of containers to maintain the optimal productivity at our MBT facility, ensuring that recycling and diversion targets are met. You will ensure all skips, trailers, bins and equipment are stored in a safe and efficient manner, with ease of access. Reporting all safety or environment issues to Management, and where appropriate, to internal support services staff is essential.

Essential Criteria for this role:

• HGV class 1 license (desirable).
• HGV class 2 also considered and ideally trained to use Roll-on Roll-off (RORO) vehicles as well as forklift trucks (telehandler machines).
• Team player with high levels of drive and flexibility.
• Understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Good people skills, be able to communicate at all levels.
• Good organisation/Planning skills.
