Job summary

National Grid in Britain seeks experienced Project Supervisors to join the South-Central Infrastructure Delivery team. You will oversee construction activities on electricity projects, ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards are met.

Based across Kent to Devon, the role requires on-site presence 3–5 days a week, close collaboration with contractors and stakeholders, and mentoring colleagues. NEC contracts knowledge and a valid UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction site supervision, project delivery or a similar role within electricity infrastructure or a comparable industry.
• Strong knowledge of CDM, health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Experience working with contractors and undertaking site assurance activities.
• Understanding of project risk management and delivering projects to safety, quality, programme and cost objectives.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and construction best practice.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH and/or CQI/IRCA Quality in Construction training.
• Authorisation to NationalGrid BP142.
• Experience acting as a Client Representative or Employer's Supervisor under NEC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction activities to ensure safe, compliant and high‑quality project delivery.
• Support contractors and project teams in meeting CDM, health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety assurance activities, identifying and managing risks.
• Lead site coordination and stakeholder meetings to support effective project delivery.
• Review construction documentation, including RAMS, quality plans and project programmes.
• Monitor project progress and performance, escalating risks and issues as required.
• Support quality assurance activities, defect management and the timely resolution of non-conformances.
• Maintain accurate site records, reports and project documentation.
• Act as a key site representative, supporting client assurance activities and contractual obligations.
• Support the delivery of projects to agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality and safety objectives.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to the development of future talent.
