Base Location:

Flexible Scotland, with a preference for key sites such as Perth, Aberdeen, or Inverness. During construction, you will be based on-site at the Emmock Substation Project north of Dundee, five days a week.

Salary:

£42,600 - £64,000 depending on experience, plus car/cash allowance, performance-related bonus, and other benefits supporting your family, finances, and wellbeing.

The Role

SSEN Transmission seeks a Site Construction Manager (Electrical) experienced in the construction and commissioning of major transmission substations. The role involves overseeing the construction phase of the 400kV Emmock Substation Project, ensuring compliance with SSEN processes and safety standards, and managing onsite activities with contractors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site as the key contact, managing scope including earthworks, civils, switchgear, transformers, earthing, and commissioning activities.
  2. Ensure compliance with statutory, legal, health and safety, and quality standards.
  3. Coordinate with contractors and the SSEN Operations team to deliver the project on schedule and foster a positive safety culture.
  4. Provide regular reports on safety, quality, and testing activities, maintaining detailed records.
  5. Develop relationships with contractors, suppliers, and the community, acting as a site leader and safety champion.
Candidate Requirements:
  1. Experience in high voltage substation construction or similar large infrastructure projects, managing multiple contractors, with knowledge of quality control and inspection plans.
  2. Strong engineering and construction knowledge, including safety and CDM regulations, with site management experience in complex projects.
  3. Leadership skills, excellent planning and communication abilities, IT proficiency, and conflict resolution skills.
  4. HND in engineering or construction management (or equivalent) and SMSTS 5-day site management qualification or similar.
  5. Understanding of NEC contracts and previous experience as an NEC Supervisor.
  6. Full driving license required due to travel and onsite presence requirements.
