Job summary

Novus is seeking a skilled Site Carpentry Teacher to deliver vocational learning at HMP Oakwood, supporting learners in developing core carpentry skills and safe working practices within a prison education setting.

This is a 12-month fixed term, full-time role (37 hours per week) designed to help learners progress towards further training or employment in the construction sector. A DBS check will be required as part of safeguarding processes.

Qualifications

• Hold a teaching qualification and be committed to obtaining an outstanding qualification within 12 months.
• Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Industry experience in site carpentry, joinery or related construction trade is essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and practical site carpentry lessons within a prison education environment.
• Support learners to develop core carpentry skills and safe working practices.
• Assist with progression to further training or employment in construction.
