Job summary

Novus is seeking a Site Carpentry Teacher to deliver high-quality vocational learning at HMP Oakwood. This 37-hour-per-week role is a full-time, 12-month fixed term contract designed to develop core carpentry skills and safe practices among prisoners, guiding progression toward training or employment in construction.

The successful candidate will deliver practical lessons, possess a teaching qualification, and bring relevant site carpentry experience to create engaging learning environments

Qualifications

• Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification in Site Carpentry, with a commitment to obtain one outstanding qualification within 12 months.
• Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Have industry experience or relevant qualifications in site carpentry, joinery or a related construction trade.
• Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and practical site carpentry lessons and qualifications within a prison education environment.
• Support learners to develop essential trade skills and safe working practices.
• Help learners progress into further training or employment in construction.
