Job summary

HS2 High Speed Two Ltd is seeking an experienced Construction Manager for the EKFB Main Works Civils contract near Aylesbury. You will provide client-side assurance across heavy civils works, review RAMS/ITPs, and manage safety, quality and interfaces with the delivery teams.

The role requires proven heavy civils experience, CSCS and SMSTS qualifications, and the ability to interpret complex drawings. On-site with some WFH flexibility and clear progression to senior roles.

Qualifications

• Significant practical experience in heavy civil engineering construction.
• Familiarity with CDM Regulations is a plus.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, RAMS and construction documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide client side construction assurance across site activities, ensuring works comply with approved designs, methodologies, standards and contractual requirements.
• Review Work Package Plans, RAMS and ITPs and other construction documentation.
• Apply a risk based approach to constructability assurance for activities like heavy lifting and earthworks.
• Undertake site inspections and safety tours, identify concerns and follow up corrective actions.
• Check construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved methods and required quality standards.
• Provide practical construction advice to HS2 Project Managers and challenge proposals where appropriate.
• Support CDM compliance and construction safety assurance.
• Manage interfaces between contractors, delivery teams and other stakeholders.
• Identify construction risks and ensure they are managed before affecting safety or programme.
