Job summary

Bimplus, a Portsmouth-based civil engineering contractor, is seeking a Site Agent to support the delivery of major earthworks projects. This role is suitable for an experienced Site Agent aiming to step up to Site Manager or Supervisor.

You will interpret drawings, plan and monitor progress, manage procurement, enforce NEC4 contracts, mentor junior engineers and provide weekly progress reports to the on-site leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering required.
• Experience as Site Agent in civil engineering/construction, preferably on large earthworks.
• Understanding of NEC4 contracts and Design & Build contracts.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specifications for accurate construction.
• Plan, measure, monitor and review contract progress and budgets.
• Procure and monitor suppliers and subcontractors, including financials.
• Ensure quality, health & safety and environmental procedures on site.
• Prepare and submit weekly progress reports.
• Identify risks, issues and financial impacts on the project.
• Coordinate daily engineering needs with site team and foremen.

Job description

Great opportunity for a Site Agent working for an excellent civil engineering contractor near Portsmouth

This opportunity will suit either an existing site agent, a site manager or a site supervisor looking to step up

The Site Agent will support the management and delivery of major civil engineering construction project

Key responsibilities of the Site Agent will include:

• Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications and ensuring the accurate construction of the works
• Planning, measuring, monitoring and reviewing the progress of contracts throughout the project’s lifespan and ensuring compliance with project’s budgets and programme.
• Ensuring the timely procurement and payment of suppliers and subcontractors and monitoring their performance including financial throughout the project.
• Ensuring company procedures and systems on quality, health & safety and the environment
• Preparing quality, environmental and H&S construction plans
• Preparing and submitting weekly reports on progress
• Identifying potential problem areas, and financial impact
• Liaising with the site manager and foreman as to what engineering is needed onsite and holding daily engineering briefings with the onsite engineers.
• Actively resolve contractual issues with both clients and suppliers
• Mentoring and guidance for junior members of the team

Ideal requirements of the Site Agent

• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering
• Demonstrable experience of working as a Site Agent within the civil engineering construction industry preferably on large earthworks projects.
• Experience in Design & Build Contracts
• Understanding and experience in NEC4 Contracts
• Strong computer literacy and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience of managing and mentoring engineers.
• Knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Highly developed professional communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in both mathematical or diagrammatic form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
