Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London seeks a Site Agent to join a Thames Valley civil engineering team. The role oversees site staff and sub-contractors, develops programmes, and ensures progress aligns with budgets and designs.

You will produce method statements, risk assessments, and manage design coordination while maintaining strong client relationships and safety standards on civils and water projects.

Qualifications

• HND / HNC / BEng or equivalent required.
• NVQ Level 6 qualifications will be considered.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related subject preferred.
• SMSTS qualification and CSCS card are essential.
• First Aid at Work desirable.

Job description

Due to continued growth, the position of Site Agent has become available to join a successful team based in the Thames Valley region in North Hampshire / Surrey.

The ideal candidate would be located between Basingstoke and Sunbury on Thames, although those individuals residing in locations such as Reading and Slough would also be located for the projects which are generally civils and water treatment related.

This is a freelance position with at least 6 months duration and the potential for a long run of work for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Management of site staff operatives and sub-contractors.
• Preparing and monitoring programmes of work.
• Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans.
• Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets.
• Manage design co-ordination.
• Assessment and engagement of sub-contractors.
• Understand and administer contract change.
• Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary.
• Foster good relations and reputation with clients.
• Promote and ensure all work complies with safety, quality and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant industry qualification (HND / HNC / BEng) or equivalent; up-to-date SMSTS qualification and appropriate CSCS card.
• First Aid at Work qualification desirable.
• Experience managing civil engineering projects with a main contractor, including reinforced concrete works, drainage, and structures.
• Experience in people management and motivation of staff.
• Good organiser with the ability to think in advance.
• Eligible to live and work in the UK, full UK driving licence essential, and willing to travel throughout the Southern Region.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related subject (ideally).
• NVQ Level 6 qualifications and above will be considered.
• Extensive experience from an Engineer upwards of Civil Engineering Projects.
• First Aid Trained.
• SMSTS.
