Job description

Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business, combining the engineering excellence of Mott MacDonald with the construction expertise of JN Bentley. Operating across the water, energy and environmental sectors throughout the UK, we deliver innovative infrastructure solutions from concept through to commissioning. With annual turnover exceeding £600 million and a reputation for collaborative project delivery, MMB continues to be one of the industry's leading design and build organisations.

As a delivery partner on United Utilities' AMP8 framework, we will play a key role in delivering over £3 billion of major infrastructure investment across the North West over the next five years, with the potential for a further five-year extension. This programme includes significant investment in wastewater treatment works, storm overflow reduction schemes and environmental improvements that will protect over 500km of rivers and bathing waters.

The role

As a Site Agent, you will take ownership of the delivery of detailed design and build projects from pre‑construction through to commissioning and handover. Working closely with in‑house design, commercial and operational teams, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme, budget and quality expectations.

This role offers the opportunity to influence design development, buildability, construction methodology and delivery strategy whilst leading site teams on a diverse portfolio of civil engineering and water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the successful delivery of detailed design and build projects across the AMP8 framework.
  • Collaborate with design teams during detailed design development to ensure safe, efficient and buildable solutions.
  • Review and challenge proposed designs, identifying opportunities to improve programme, efficiency, value and risk management.
  • Manage site operations to achieve safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives.
  • Coordinate resources, materials, subcontractors and supply chain partners throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support planning and construction sequencing to ensure effective integration of design and delivery activities.
  • Monitor project progress, manage site performance and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to manage costs, change control and project risks.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular updates on project performance and delivery milestones.
  • Fulfil the role of Temporary Works Coordinator, ensuring temporary works are designed, installed and managed in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.
  • Champion MMB's collaborative culture and commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence.
What We're Looking For
  • CSCS card and SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience delivering civil engineering or water infrastructure projects within a design and build environment.
  • Good understanding of detailed design, construction methodology, temporary works and project delivery processes.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across projects within the North West region.
  • Strong leadership, planning and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
