Job summary

MacGregor Black is representing an established consumer products business in Blackpool, recruiting a Site Accountant/Management Accountant to support the site finance team. You will provide financial insight, drive performance, and collaborate with operations to improve profitability.

The role covers management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control and variance analysis, with regular interaction across finance and operating teams. A proactive, commercially minded approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing, FMCG or operation environment.
• Qualified, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent accounting experience.
• Experience as Management/Site/Cost accountant or similar role.
• Good understanding of management accounts, month-end processes and reporting.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Exposure to product costing or manufacturing cost control is advantageous.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to handle financial data.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and site performance information.
• Analyse actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and trends.
• Support annual budgets and regular financial forecasts.
• Assist with product costing and manufacturing cost analysis including standard costing.
• Complete month-end activities including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Monitor stock and inventory with operational teams to keep records accurate.
• Produce regular financial reports and management insights.
• Collaborate with production and operations to improve financial performance.
• Support internal and external audit requirements and financial controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting.
• Provide financial support on business projects and initiatives.

MacGregor Black is delighted to be supporting an established consumer products business in the appointment of a Site Accountant / Management Accountant. This is a permanent opportunity based in Blackpool.

Working as part of the site finance team, you will provide financial insight and support to the wider operation, helping management understand performance and make informed business decisions.

This is a hands‑on role covering management accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and cost control, with regular interaction across finance and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and site performance information.
• Analyse actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying key variances, trends and areas requiring attention.
• Support the preparation of annual budgets and regular financial forecasts.
• Assist with product costing and manufacturing cost analysis, including standard costing and cost reviews.
• Complete month‑end accounting activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monitor stock and inventory information, working with operational teams to ensure financial records are accurate.
• Produce regular financial reports and analysis for management, providing insight into business performance.
• Work closely with production and operational teams to understand financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support internal and external audit requirements and maintain appropriate financial controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and the use of financial information.
• Provide financial support and analysis on business projects and operational initiatives.

What we are looking for:

• Experience working in a manufacturing, FMCG or other operational environment.
• Qualified, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in a Management Accountant, Site Accountant, Plant Accountant, Cost Accountant or similar position.
• Good understanding of management accounts, month‑end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Exposure to product costing, standard costing or manufacturing cost control would be advantageous.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Experience using an ERP system such as SAP would be beneficial.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
• A proactive and commercially minded approach, with the ability to identify issues and suggest improvements.
