Job summary

Agility Resourcing is recruiting a commercially minded Management Accountant for an SME based in Blackpool. You will own the monthly management accounts, provide timely financial information and partner with senior management to influence business decisions.

The role is hands-on in a fast-paced SME, with the opportunity to influence processes, controls and forecasting. Flexible for a candidate who can start ASAP and wants ownership of the finance function.

Qualifications

• Previous experience producing management accounts from start to finish.
• Strong knowledge of month-end processes, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
• Experience of budgeting and forecasting.
• Strong Excel and systems skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Proactive and commercially minded approach.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts with accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare Profit & Loss reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage the month-end process end-to-end.
• Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Conduct cashflow forecasting and monitoring.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles.
• Provide insightful commentary on financial performance to senior management.
• Support wider finance function as required.
• Assist with year-end accounts and audit requirements.
• Contribute to maintaining robust financial controls.

The Role

Working closely with senior management, you will take responsibility for producing accurate and timely financial information to support key business decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing monthly management accounts
• Preparing profit and loss reports and balance sheet reconciliations
• Managing the month-end process
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals and prepayments
• Cashflow forecasting and monitoring
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Analysing financial performance and providing meaningful commentary
• Supporting senior management with financial information and commercial insight
• Maintaining and improving financial controls and processes
• Assisting with year-end accounts and audit requirements
• Supporting the wider finance function when required

About You

We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant who is comfortable working in a hands-on SME environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience producing management accounts from start to finish
• Strong knowledge of month-end processes, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
• Experience of budgeting and forecasting
• Strong Excel and systems skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• A proactive and commercially minded approach

You may be CIMA/ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience - the most important factor is your ability to take ownership of the finance function and add real value to the business.
