Carrington West is working with a well established tier 1 civil engineering contractor that is growing its project pipeline across the Transmission & Distribution markets. They need a Site Agent to run the civils on a major transmission substation scheme. You'd be the senior operational lead on site, responsible for safe, predictable delivery from enabling works through to energisation.

What you'll be doing

- Setting the standard on site for safety, planning, reporting and behaviours, and making sure permits, exclusion zones, temporary works, lifting and excavation are properly controlled
- Coordinating with the electrical, earthing, steelwork, protection & control, cabling and commissioning contractors
- Owning the site programme, running planning and progress meetings, clearing constraints and putting recovery plans in place when needed
- Managing package budgets, resources and subcontractor performance alongside the commercial team
- Making sure early warnings, change and records are kept on top of under NEC
- Driving right-first-time quality and progressive handover, including closing out NCRs, defects, red-lines and handover files
- Leading readiness reviews ahead of commissioning and energisation, and leading investigations if things go wrong
What you'll need
- A degree or HNC in civil engineering or construction management, or equivalent
- A solid track record as a Site Agent or Agent on major energy or civil infrastructure
- Strong NEC3/NEC4 experience, particularly managing change
- SMSTS and a CSCS or EUSR management card
- First Aid at Work
- A full UK driving licence
It would be great if you also had
- Delivery experience in live 275kV or 400kV substations
- EUSR SHEA Power
- Experience working to transmission client safety rules
- Temporary Works Coordinator
- IOSH or NEBOSH at management level
- Membership of the ICE, CIOB or APM
What's on offer
- £50,000 - £65,000(DOE)
- £5,500 car allowance
- Private healthcare
- Long-term work on a growing transmission pipeline, with progression to Project Manager
