Job summary

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced practitioner to lead nursing care from admission to discharge, manage ward staff and learners, and drive evidence-based, patient-centred care across a varied caseload.

You will ensure care aligns with Trust policies, use clinical audit and teaching to improve standards, and lead on staffing, appraisals, recruitment, and coordinating daily work while safeguarding resources.

• Experience managing ward/unit staff including appraisals and rota planning.
• Supervision of learners and leadership of nursing teams.

Job description

The practitioner should be an expert in the assessment, planning, and implementation of all areas of nursing care from a patient’s admission through to discharge, supporting the ongoing development of clinical practice. They will manage ward or unit staff, including undertaking appraisals, rota planning, recruitment and selection, and the supervision of learners. They will support and lead a team of nurses in delivering high‑standard, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care.

The practitioner is responsible for ensuring that all care is delivered in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, while maintaining all associated records. Through the use of clinical audit, research, supervision of practice, and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources.

As a team leader, you will guide staff in developing their knowledge and practice, while coordinating, allocating and monitoring daily work. You will also help ensure the efficient use of physical and financial resources.
