Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a developmental Band 6 leadership role within ASU SDEC, Acute Surgical Unit and Same Day emergency Care at University Hospitals Southampton (UHS). These 12 bedded assessment beds with 5 assessment chairs caters for patients with acute general surgery concerns. The ward nursing team in partnership with a dedicated MDT provide care for patients that either will require surgery or can be discharged with a comprehensive pathway to follow to ensure they receive the highest quality care and experience.
ASU receives patients not only directly from the emergency department but from GPs, Minor Injury Units, various hospitals and clinics. ASU runs a 24hr, 7day a week service. Out of hours we provide care for patients from alternative specialities. We have set up numerous pathways that include diagnostic pathways, next day clinic appointments and required follow up appointments including a 48hr open access pathway.
