Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our critical care team. We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with critical care experience looking to develop their career further into a Band 6 role.

If you are ready to to progress your career and develop leadership skills in the intensive care environment this may be the opportunity for you.

We are an 16 bedded critical care accepting level 3 and level 2 patients, as a Band 6 sister/charge nurse you will be responsible for co-ordinating the care of the patients in this area and ensuring delivery of high quality care to our patients from the team

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Sister on the critical care your duties will include the following skills on a shift by shift basis

-Co-ordination and management of the critical care unit including co-ordination of admissions and discharges and managing capacity within the department

-Ensuring safe staffing levels are maintained by manipulation of rosters and escalates to the ward manager as required

-Providing support and guidance to junior members of the team caring for critically ill patients

-Works with the multi disciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care is delivered to critically ill patients

-Ensures the critical care area has sufficient resources to deliver high quality care and escalates to senior staff if there is a deficit

-Actively engages with staff development and supervision through education, appraisals and mentorship

-Adheres to current policies in relation to infection control, Health and Safety and Well being of the staff

-Deputises for the Senior Sister when required
