Job summary
The Macmillan Unit (Ward G1)is a 12 bedded inpatient ward, a chemotherapy day unit, a mobile cancer care unit and a busy patient clinic department. We specialise in the care and treatment of patients with oncological and haematological conditions through all stages of their illness. We provide staff with many opportunities to gain new knowledge and skills, including Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT), supported by our senior nursing team and by working closely with the multidisciplinary team, including site specific Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Acute Oncology Service.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder is expected to demonstrate leadership skills and evidence of nursing experience to ensure high standards of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care pathways are provided for patients
The post holder will be required to work within a challenging clinical environment and undertake a rotating shift pattern to include ward, day unit, the mobile chemo unit, nights, weekends, bank holidays and occassionaly support our Acute Oncology Team
The post holder is responsible for contributing to the management and co-ordination of the Macmillan Unit, providing effective liaison and communication networks with all professionals, internal and external to the Trust.
