Job Description:

Our team is part of the Audi F1 Project, which will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026. The project involves three locations: the Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany), the Sauber Group's F1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland), and the Sauber Motorsport Technical Center in the UK.

The role of a development engineer for powertrain simulation involves contributing to the project's success by directing development in the context of the complete vehicle, focusing on maximizing hybrid drivetrain performance in a competitive environment.

Starting from January 1, 2026, your responsibilities include:

  • Developing state-of-the-art vehicle simulation for lap time and energy management optimization
  • Improving simulation frameworks by implementing user requirements and integrating high-fidelity models
  • Enhancing convergence and robustness of optimization processes
  • Researching and applying advanced numerical methods
  • Supporting concept analysis and system design for F1 2026 PU regulations
  • Collaborating with engineers in model and software development

Your profile should include:

  • Doctoral or Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related fields
  • Experience in numerical optimization, control, or model predictive control
  • Knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, dynamical systems, and differential equations
  • Experience with lap time simulation and vehicle modeling
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Python, or C++ programming
  • Knowledge of software development workflows and version control systems (Git/SVN) is a plus
  • Strong analytical and teamwork skills, with an international mindset
  • Proficiency in German or English, with willingness to learn the other language
