Job summary

Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking an Assistant Technical Officer to join the Health & Education Resource Centre Team within Technical Services. This campus-based role supports simulation and clinical teaching, preparing facilities and equipment for practical sessions.

You will ensure safe, efficient operations and provide guidance to students and staff, delivering high-quality technical support across simulation and physiotherapy environments.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a laboratory, workshop, simulation or similar technical environment.
• Experience using specialist simulation-based education equipment and technologies, including high-fidelity manikins and Anatomage Tables.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within clinical, practical or technical environments.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain and demonstrate equipment use to others.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the delivery of simulation-based education, clinical skills and physiotherapy teaching activities.
• Preparing specialist facilities, equipment and resources for practical sessions.
• Providing technical support, demonstrations and guidance to students and staff.
• Maintaining specialist equipment and ensuring safe, effective working environments.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality technical support service.
