We are looking to recruit for Technician and Team Leader roles within our Signalling & Telecoms team in the Manchester Piccadilly area. As part of the role, you will undertake inspection, faulting, signalling maintenance, and telecoms installation.
Signalling & Telecoms (S&T) offers a dynamic and diverse role that combines both electrical and mechanical engineering skills. There is a variety in tasks, from using electronic testing equipment to measuring critical electrical parameters to working with mechanical systems that guide trains; this ensures that no two days are the same.

Please Note: There may be a requirement to work on call in this role if you opt to take the Standard Maintenance Contract.
About the role (External)
Technician – You will be a key member of the team, carrying out tasks as directed by the Team Leader. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and oversight of work quality.
You will provide support to the Team Leader to organise and motivate the team so that work is undertaken safely, efficiently, and to the relevant standards. Undertake inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal work as allocated and, where directed, act as Team Leader.
You’ll also accurately report all work completed/not completed and produce/maintain records as required and control and check the quality of work undertaken and confirm assets are compliant with standards.
Team Leader – In this role, we'll look to you to direct, organise, and motivate a high-performing team, as well as liaise with the management teams and other departments/companies. From inspection and faulting through to maintenance and renewal, you'll play a hands-on role.
You'll make sure everything is done efficiently and to the relevant standards and controls. You'll have experience in establishing the relevant safety arrangements for the tasks and ensure Network Rail staff and contractors alike follow safe systems of work. Proactively controlling and checking the quality of work and the competence of your people, you’ll ensure that assets are fully compliant with the maintenance standards and that all vehicles, plant, tools, equipment, and materials are safe & fit for purpose.
This role involves days, nights, and weekend working, and is a safety-critical role, so it is subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing the relevant medical assessment.
