Job summary

Network Rail is seeking a skilled engineer to support the development and delivery of level crossing design solutions across a range of projects. You will help translate project requirements into practical engineering options, balancing safety, reliability, sustainability and life-cycle costs.

You will prepare design details, undertake technical investigations and support mentoring of junior engineers, contributing to high-quality railway engineering outcomes.

Qualifications

• Working towards an ONC/OND in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.
• IRSE Signalling Designer licence or equivalent for the Engineering discipline.
• Strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
• A working knowledge of rail engineering; relevant experience in the principal discipline and understanding of related disciplines.
• Construction Design Management (CDM) competence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver level crossing design solutions across projects.
• Turn project requirements into practical engineering options considering safety, reliability, and whole-life cost.
• Prepare level crossing design details and analyse engineering requirements.
