Job summary

Fraser Signs Ltd is seeking an experienced Signage Designer to develop production-ready artwork from customer briefs and site visuals. You will work across shop fascias, vehicle graphics and dimensional lettering, ensuring accurate scale and production-ready files for large-format printing.

The role requires proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, with a strong eye for detail and English communication.

Responsibilities

• Produce creative and professional signage concepts from customer briefs.
• Prepare customer visuals using site photographs, elevations and vehicle templates.
• Create accurate, correctly scaled production artwork.
• Design shop fascias, folded trays, sign panels, window graphics, vehicle liveries, banners, post-mounted signs and dimensional lettering.
• Prepare artwork for large-format printing, vinyl cutting and CNC production.
• Add clear dimensions, material specifications and production notes.
• Check spelling, measurements, scale, image quality, colours, bleed and cut paths before submission.
• Adapt customer-supplied logos and artwork into suitable production files.
• Follow established templates, brand guidelines and company production standards.
• Manage several projects while meeting agreed deadlines.
• Respond accurately and promptly to feedback and requested amendments.
• Communicate clearly with project managers and raise questions before making assumptions.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Signage Designer to support a busy UK sign company. The ideal candidate will combine strong creative ability with practical knowledge of how signs are manufactured and installed.

Both on-site and remote working opportunities are available. On-site positions are based at our premises in Inverness, Scotland. Remote applicants must be able to communicate reliably and collaborate effectively with our UK-based project managers.

This is not a general marketing or social-media design position. You should have previous experience working for a signage, vehicle-graphics or large-format printing company.

You must be able to interpret customer briefs, site photographs and measurements, then develop accurate customer visuals and production-ready artwork. You should be comfortable working independently, asking sensible questions when information is missing and collaborating with project managers.

Essential Experience and Skills

• Previous professional experience within the signage or large-format printing industry
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
• Experience using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
• Understanding of vector artwork, print resolution, bleed, contour cutting and colour management
• Ability to work accurately in millimetres and at scale
• Experience producing customer presentation visuals and production-ready artwork
• Good written and spoken English
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Remote applicants must have a reliable internet connection and suitable working environment

• Vehicle-livery and wrap design
• CorelDRAW
• Preparing CNC/router-ready files
• Folded aluminium and ACM trays
• Flat-cut and built-up lettering
• Illuminated signs and lightboxes
• Sign-fixing methods and fabrication drawings
• Experience working with UK, European or international sign companies

A formal design qualification is welcome but not essential. Relevant signage-industry experience and the quality of your work are more important.

Applicants must provide examples of signage projects that have been manufactured or installed. General branding, social-media and logo portfolios alone will not be sufficient.
