Job summary

Luton Sixth Form College in Luton is seeking a part-time BSL Communicator to provide high-quality communication support for deaf students in lessons and support sessions, using British Sign Language or other appropriate methods.

The role covers in-class and out-of-class assistance, collaborative work with teaching staff, and accurate records of support. This fixed-term maternity cover is term-time only, hourly paid, aligned with the college spine rate.

Qualifications

• CACDP/Signature Level 3 Sign Language qualification preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with deaf students or adults.
• Commitment to inclusive learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality communication support for deaf students in lessons, enabling full participation.
• Deliver individual support outside the classroom to develop independence and learning approaches.
• Work with teaching staff to ensure materials and activities are accessible.
• Maintain accurate records of support and contribute to planning and review.
