Job summary

GXO Logistics, Knottingley site, is seeking a dedicated Shunter Driver to safely move palletised goods between local sites on Class 1 (C+E) vehicles. The role focuses on shunting, trailer movements and timely inter-site transfers.

Working Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 17:00, you’ll perform daily vehicle checks, secure loads, and comply with transport regulations while joining a committed logistics team on the Verallia contract.

Qualifications

• EU driving licence with C+E entitlement is required.
• Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC) is mandatory.
• Digital Tachograph Card must be held and valid.
• Minimum of 2 years driving and/or shunting experience.
• No more than 6 current penalty points.
• No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles for palletised glass transfers between local sites.
• Carry out regular shunting movements and trailer positioning within site boundaries.
• Occasionally complete customer deliveries when required.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Ensure loads are secured and transport compliant with procedures and law.
• Comply with road transport legislation and Working Time Directive.
• Follow health and safety procedures when handling glass products.
• Communicate with transport planners, warehouse teams and site personnel.

Job description

Are you a dedicated and safety-focused Shunter Driverwho is looking to develop within a reputable organisation. Would you like to join our logistics team at our GXO Knottingley site working onthe Verallia Contract.

To safely and efficiently transport glass products on pallets between local company sites using Class 1 vehicles. The role primarily involves shunting and inter-site movements, with occasional customer deliveries when required.

You’ll be working on a full-time permanentbasis, Monday to Friday between the hours of 06:00 – 17:00

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Safely operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles for the movement of palletised glass between local company sites
• Carry out regular shunting duties, including trailer movements and positioning of vehicles within site boundaries
• Complete occasional customer deliveries in accordance with company schedules and customer requirements
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly
• Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported safely in line with company procedures and legal requirements
• Adhere to all road transport legislation, driver hours regulations, and Working Time Directive requirements
• Follow all health and safety procedures, particularly those relating to the handling and transportation of glass products
• Communicate effectively with transport planners, warehouse teams, and site personnel.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• A full EU driving licence with category C+E entitlement
• A valid Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC)
• Be in possession of a valid Digital Tachograph Card
• Minimum of 2 years driving and/or shunting experience
• No more than 6 current penalty points
• No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements with a conviction date within the previous 5 years
