Job summary

Kinetic Industrial in Dukinfield is seeking several Shot Blasters to join our client on a temporary-to-permanent basis. You will prepare steel components for coating by carrying out abrasive blast cleaning, removing rust, scale and contaminants, and ensuring the finish meets quality standards.

Shifts vary: early 6:00am–2:00pm and late 2:00pm–11:30pm with a 9% late-shift allowance. The role includes training, potential overtime, and progression opportunities in a metal finishing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in shot blasting or surface preparation.
• Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, coatings or engineering.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Job description

Kinetic Industrial are looking for multiple Shot Blasters to join our client based in Dukinfield.

This is a temporary-to-permanent position where you will be responsible for preparing steel components for coating by carrying out abrasive blast cleaning operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate shot blasting equipment safely and effectively
• Prepare steel components for coating by removing rust, scale, paint and other contaminants
• Ensure surfaces are prepared to the required quality standards
• Inspect components to ensure the required finish has been achieved
• Load and unload components
• Handle materials using overhead cranes and other lifting equipment following appropriate training
• Complete production paperwork and maintain accurate records
• Carry out routine equipment checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements
• Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working area
• Work closely with coating operatives, inspectors and supervisors to meet production targets
• Assist with packing, handling and movement of finished products when required
• Follow all company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures

Requirements

• Previous shot blasting or surface preparation experience
• Experience within manufacturing, fabrication, coatings or engineering
• Forklift Truck Licence - essential
• Overhead Crane Licence - desirable
• Knowledge of surface preparation standards
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 environment
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work safely within an industrial environment
• Reliable, punctual and willing to learn
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Working Hours

• Early shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm
• Late shift: Monday to Wednesday, 2:00pm - 12:00am / Thursday, 2:00pm - 11:30pm
• Late shift allowance: Additional 9%
• Overtime: Available after 37.5 hours, where required. Monday-Saturday: Time and a half / Sunday: Double time
