Job summary

Upham Inns is hiring a Shift Supervisor to lead our Front of House team across Southern England pubs. You will guide service, brief and train staff on new products, and drive promotional activities to boost guest experiences.

The role requires proven restaurant experience, excellent communication, and the ability to manage a busy shift with confidence and organisation. Weekend and holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of restaurant experience.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Good decision-making under pressure.
• Confident and approachable leadership.
• Well-organised with attention to detail.
• Solid knowledge of food, wine and beer as it relates to service.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate front-of-house team during shifts.
• Conduct pre-session briefings and train staff on new products and promos.
• Drive promotional activities and upsell opportunities.
• Support and coach team members to maintain high service standards.
• Handle issues professionally and escalate to general manager when needed.
• Ensure exceptional customer service and teamwork across departments.
• Participate in ongoing training and development.

Shift Supervisor Requirements

• Have a proven track record of restaurant experience
• Be at Least 18 year of age due to licensing laws
• You’ll be a great communicator
• You’ll have great decision-making skills
• You should be confident
• You’ll need to be organised
• General knowledge of food, wine and beer
• Have the Right to work in the UK
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Shift Supervisor

Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for team work, leading and motivating team members
• Hold pre session briefings as and when appropriate and make sure the team are fully briefed and trained on any new amended food and drink products, and any promotional activity
• Assist in implementing and driving promotional activities
• Support and coach team members to upsell
• Deal with any issues that arise during each shift promptly and professionally, seeking advice from the general manager where necessary
• Lead by example to ensure that the highest possible levels of customer service are delivered by team members at all times
• Liaise with other departments Including kitchen and door teams in the business to ensure every customer experiences a consistent level of service
• Assist the General and Assistant Managers as and when necessary to make the business run effectively and efficiently.
• Participating in ongoing training and development
• Must have an eagerness to take advantage of new opportunities
• Learning different skills

As a Front of House Team Leader, you will need to be able to demonstrate passion and energy to develop team members resulting in focussed customer service and exceptional standards.

Our pubs are in idyllic settings in country villages and towns, where we are proud to be the quality local of the area, serving high quality fresh pub food in a cozy pub ambience.
