Job summary

Associated British Ports (ABP) is recruiting for a shift-based supervisor to lead operational teams across our busy port operations. You will supervise day-to-day activities, motivate staff on shift, ensure health, safety and environmental procedures are followed, and coordinate resources to meet demand.

You should have supervisory experience in logistics or industrial environments, strong leadership, excellent communication, and good IT and administrative skills.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience within operational, logistics, manufacturing, port, marine or industrial environments.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and prioritise workloads.
  • Experience coordinating teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competent IT and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operational activities.
  • Lead, motivate and develop operational employees on shift.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitor performance and productivity, addressing issues as they arise.
  • Complete operational reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Support training, coaching and competency development of team members.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operational delivery.
  • Act as a key point of contact during shifts and respond to operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Shift Pattern

5 on, 3 off (8-day rotation) | Available to work up to 12-hour shifts
