Job summary

Associated British Ports in Southampton is seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to perform preventative and reactive maintenance across radar, VHF radio systems, CCTV and X-ray equipment in cruise terminals. The role is based at the Port of Southampton with a 1 in 4 on-call roster to provide 365/24/7 coverage.

Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable working at height and on/in water.

Qualifications

  • HNC electronics or equivalent.
  • Ability to work at heights of 30 metres or more.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, to include on-call duties.

Responsibilities

  • Planned/reactive maintenance across radar, CCTV, access control and weather stations.
  • Electronic testing, inspection and fault finding down to component level.
  • Work safely and contribute to risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Provide information to Mainsaver administrators to keep the system up to date.

We're currently looking to recruit an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our team in Southampton. Working in a team of 4 you'll play a key role in delivering preventative and reactive maintenance across a wide range of assets. Whether looking after the radar equipment, our VHF Radio systems, vast CCTV network or ensuring the X-Ray equipment in our cruise terminals, the role will provide you with a unique asset base to maintain.

Based from our Port Of Southampton, you will need to hold a full UK Driving Licence to travel across the full port estate. You'll need to be comfortable working at height and over/on water. The role works regular days, but with a 1 in 4 oncall roster to provide 365 24/7 coverage to the port.

Accountabilities

Planned/reactive maintenance activities:

  • Radar,
  • CCTV,
  • Access Control,
  • Weather stations
  • Other electronic equipment.

To carry out Electronic Testing, Inspection, and fault finding including remedial works, down to component level.

To work in a safe manner, assist with the collation and updating of risk assessments and work in accordance with ABP’s safe systems of work.

Complete relevant paperwork and provide Mainsaver administrators sufficient information to keep the system up to date.

Skills & Experience
  • HNC electronics or equivalent,
  • Ability to work at heights of 30 metres or more,
  • Full driving licence,
  • Flexible approach to working hours, to include on-call duties.
Ideal
  • Knowledge of Radars systems, VHF Radios, CCTV and X-Rays,
  • Software integration and coding for bespoke assets such as Tide & Weather Stations,
  • Electronics or communications knowledge,
  • PLC knowledge,
  • Understanding of Network Systems
