Job summary

Vincere based at Prestwick Airport is seeking a Shift Supervisor to lead the shift and manage certification tasks for zones/areas assigned to the shift. You will ensure compliance with UK CAA Part-66 and company standards.

The role includes task supervision, staff allocation, reporting of defects, and maintaining records. This position operates 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:00) as part of a 5 on / 4 off pattern, in a hangar environment.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or similar.
• UK CAA Part-66 Licence with appropriate aircraft types.
• Ideal to hold a Category C licence.

Job description

Role: Shift Supervisor

Location: Prestwick

Hours: 5,5,4 7am - 7pm

Salary: Up to £87,053 (Inc. Shift pay + DM Pay )

UKCAA license with at least 2 of our types

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Shift Manager, the Base Shift Supervisor will lead the shift and carry out certification responsibilities for the zones/areas of the aircraft assigned to the shift.

Job Accountabilities

Task Management & Supervision

• Efficiently control, supervise and allocate work tasks during the shift to ensure optimal productivity and adherence to timelines.
• Monitor and evaluate staff performance regularly, providing constructive feedback and supporting professional development.

Reporting & Documentation

• Promptly report significant defects encountered during maintenance and compile Occurrence Reports in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities and issues for future reference and audits.

Staff Allocation & Base Maintenance

• Allocate tasks to staff to ensure the Base is maintained in a clean and acceptable condition throughout the duty period.
• Ensure staff are provided with the appropriate training and resources to complete tasks effectively.

Authorisation & Compliance

• Exercise the privileges of authorisation correctly and responsibly, adhering to all regulatory and company standards.
• Ensure personal licence and authorisation remain valid and up to date.
• Support C-Cert with final CRS and exercise C-Certification privileges when required.

Procedural Knowledge & Updates

• Stay current with Base procedures and all operator procedures applicable at the Base, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
• Participate in regular training sessions to remain up to date with changes to procedures.

Time Management & Reporting

• Ensure accurate tracking of man-hours worked by both the supervisor and team throughout the shift period.

Health & Safety

• Maintain Health & Safety standards in accordance with the company's Safety Policy.

Leadership, Communication & Continuous Improvement

• Enhance communication within the team to ensure clear and effective information flow.
• Facilitate feedback from colleagues, encouraging them to raise concerns and suggestions and fostering a collaborative working environment.
• Encourage leadership training and development to further strengthen supervisory skills.
• Propose improvements and innovations to enhance operational efficiency and staff satisfaction.
• Complete any other tasks reasonably requested by management, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.

Operating Environment

• Based within a hangar environment at Prestwick Airport.
• 5 on / 4 off shift pattern.
• 07:00 – 19:00.
• 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications & Education

• Recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or similar.
• UK CAA Part-66 Licence with aircraft types relevant to the station.
• Ideally hold a Category C licence.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience certifying aircraft with a UK CAA Part-66 licence and appropriate company authorisation.
• Management experience within the aviation industry, preferably managing other Licensed Engineers.

Training & Knowledge

• Strong technical aviation experience with demonstrable knowledge of airworthiness regulations, MOE, MEL and its use, SRM, the limitations of technical data and the impact of those limitations.
• Working knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Production Planning.
• High standard of written and spoken English.
• High level of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
