Job summary

Arriva The Shires Limited in Milton Keynes is seeking a skilled PSV Mechanic to keep our bus fleet safe, reliable and road-ready, including the latest electric buses and vehicle technology.

You’ll carry out routine servicing, fault diagnosis and repairs on PSV/ HGV vehicles, prepare for MOT inspections and keep accurate maintenance records, within a 5/7 shift pattern and full-time hours.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
• PSV/HGV mechanical experience in a bus or coach environment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Full UK Driving Licence (PCV Cat D desirable).

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and safety inspections on buses.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and air system faults.
• Repair engines, brakes, steering, suspension and other parts.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections.
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
• Work closely with the workshop team.
• Assist with breakdowns and emergency repairs when needed.
• Keep the workshop clean and organised.
• Manage and order parts when required.

£26.35 per hour (£54,808 per year)

Full-time | 5 out of 7 shift rota - (mornings, afternoons & late shifts)

What you’ll do:

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and safety inspections on buses
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and air system faults
• Repair engines, brakes, steering, suspension, and other vehicle parts
• Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections
• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately
• Follow health & safety procedures at all times
• Work closely with the workshop team
• Assist with breakdowns and emergency repairs when needed
• Keep the workshop clean and organised

What we’re looking for:
