Job summary

Arriva UK Bus is seeking skilled Engineers to join our expanding teams across the business. You will maintain buses and PSVs, diagnose faults, and perform repairs to keep fleets safe and reliable for millions of daily passengers.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Experience as PSV Engineer, HGV Technician, Bus Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Mechanical Engineer or Heavy Vehicle Engineer.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience in a workshop or fleet environment.
  • Experience using engineering tools, workshop equipment and vehicle diagnostic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good health and safety knowledge in engineering/transport environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on buses, PSVs, vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools.
  • Complete repairs, modifications and upgrades to DVSA and safety standards.
  • Support fleet reliability through fault finding and problem solving.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and manuals.
  • Ensure maintenance work is safe, efficient and high quality.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and reports.
  • Work with workshop teams, supervisors and operations.
  • Support continuous improvement to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and apprentices.

Arriva UK Bus is looking for skilled and experienced Engineers to join our growing engineering teams across the business. Whether your background is in PSV engineering, HGV maintenance, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, rail, heavy plant, or commercial vehicle repair, this is an exciting opportunity to build a long-term engineering career with one of the UK’s leading transport operators. Key Responsibilities – Engineer / PSV Engineer / HGV Technician
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on buses, PSVs, vehicles, and engineering equipment

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve vehicle reliability and workshop efficiency
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and apprentices where required
What We’re Looking For
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
  • Previous experience as a PSV Engineer, HGV Technician, Bus Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Mechanical Engineer, or Heavy Vehicle Engineer
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience within a workshop or fleet environment
  • Experience using engineering tools, workshop equipment, and vehicle diagnostic systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures within engineering and transport environments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
