Viridor in Glasgow is recruiting for a Shift Operations Technician to join the Energy Recovery Facility team. You will monitor and control plant processes from the central control room, carrying out operational tasks to maximise performance and maintain safety and environmental standards.

The role offers a 40-hour week with a 5-week shift pattern (days, nights and weekends), a salary of £43,871 per year plus a shift allowance of £6,594 and involvement in an annual bonus scheme.

Qualificações

• Experience in mechanical, electrical, industrial or process plant environments.
• Understanding of safe systems of work, including plant isolations and permit-to-work.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good computer literacy and confidence using operational systems.
• Excellent communication and ability to work in a shift team.
• IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
• Experience using CMMS.
• Knowledge of environmental permitting or PPC-regulated operations.
• Ability to prepare operational reports and documentation.
• Understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.

Responsabilidades

• Operate and monitor the plant through DCS/SCADA systems.
• Manage alarms and identify opportunities to improve plant performance.
• Ensure safe operation within environmental permit requirements.
• Support delivery of operational KPIs, maximizing waste throughput and electricity export.
• Diagnose and rectify process and equipment faults.
• Carry out routine inspections, testing and frontline maintenance.
• Monitor boiler water chemistry and ensure compliance.
• Complete plant isolations and work safely with permit-to-work.
• Maintain shift logs and provide thorough handovers.
• Monitor stock levels and supervise bulk deliveries on site.
• Coordinate and direct contractors, visitors and personnel.
• Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, outages and emergency response.
• Raise and manage defects in CMMS.
• Carry out risk assessments and pursue continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
• Support visitor inductions and promote safety culture.
