Job summary

Viridor is recruiting a Shift Technician to operate and monitor our ERF plant from the central control room in Glasgow. You will handle alarms, performance improvements, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental permits while supporting energy recovery operations.

The role includes 40-hour weeks with a 5-week shift pattern (days, nights, weekends) and a salary of £43,871 plus shift allowance and potential bonus. Glasgow-based role with strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical/electrical plant environments.
• Safe systems of work, including isolations and permit-to-work.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor plant using DCS/SCADA control systems.
• Diagnose and rectify faults; perform routine inspections and maintenance.
• Maintain shift logs and provide clear handovers to teams.
• Coordinate contractors and supervise site activities safely.
• Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency response.
