Job summary

Company Shop Group is seeking a hands-on Shift Manager at our Head Office in Tankersley. You will lead daily warehouse operations, drive safety, quality and performance, and develop our colleagues to deliver results across a fast-paced environment.

You will set clear expectations, coach teams and ensure the operation runs smoothly each shift. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will manage resources and budgets, coach teams, and ensure clear communication and smooth handovers.

Qualifications

• Previous management level within a chilled, FMCG or packing environment.
• Experience working within Health & Safety frameworks and maintaining high operational standards.
• The confidence to make sound decisions in a complex, fast-paced operation.
• A proven ability to coach, motivate and develop teams to deliver results.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with operational budgets, targets and KPIs.
• The ability to manage change, challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Essential: Food Hygiene Level 2.
• Desirable: Food Hygiene Level 3.

Responsibilities

• Leading operational performance – taking ownership of daily warehouse activities, productivity, service, quality and operational KPIs.
• Putting safety first – championing Health & Safety, environmental standards and brand integrity, ensuring procedures are followed and incidents and near misses are reported.
• Driving continuous improvement – identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, increase efficiency and deliver better results.
• Managing resources and costs – planning labour, managing temporary colleagues and budgets, and ensuring the right people are in the right place to meet business demands.
• Developing your team – coaching, mentoring and supporting colleagues, identifying skills gaps and putting development plans in place.
• Managing performance – setting clear expectations and addressing performance, conduct and employee relations matters in line with company procedures.
• Delivering effective communication – leading daily review meetings, completing robust shift handovers and ensuring actions are followed through.
• Working collaboratively – building strong relationships across the wider business to ensure supply chain demands are met.
• Taking ownership – acting as the senior manager on site outside normal working hours when required in an emergency.
