Job summary

Knauf UK & Ireland is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Electrical) for the Sittingbourne Plant. The role runs a 4 on 6 off pattern with 12-hour shifts (days/nights 5am-5pm or 5pm-5am).

You will maintain process equipment, respond to faults, and perform preventative maintenance to keep the line running safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have an electrical apprenticeship, HNC/HND, and CMMS experience (preferably SAP).

Qualifications

• Completed Level 3 NVQ Electrical Apprenticeship (or equivalent).
• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or relevant experience).
• BS7671 IEE 18th Edition.
• Portable Appliance Testing Certification.
• Condition Based Maintenance – Thermography and Vibration Analysis.
• Experience with CMMS systems (Ideally SAP).
• Knowledge of safe systems of work and procedures and an excellent regard for health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of process equipment on shift.
• Respond to process stoppages or abnormalities; diagnose, isolate and repair faults.
• Undertake planned preventative maintenance and improvement activities.
• Record all activity and observations in the SAP CMMS with technical detail to support analyses.
• Support engineering and shift teams; provide cover as required and ensure safe handovers via SAP.

Knauf (Gypsum) are searching for team members to join our Engineering Team as a Maintenance Technician (Electrical) at our Sittingbourne Plant.

Within this role, the Shift Maintenance Electrician will be working a 4 on 6 off shift pattern, each shift is 12 hours. This shift pattern includes days & nights (5am - 5pm or 5pm - 5am)

What You'll Be Doing

The Maintenance Technician have a primary responsibility to ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of process equipment on their shift. They will respond to process stoppages or abnormalities as required for diagnosis, isolations and to effect repairs, or as otherwise directed by the Shift Manager or their Line Manager. They will also undertake planned preventative maintenance and improvement activities.

• You are required to follow company Health and Safety procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
• You are also required to demonstrate appropriate levels of technical competence in assessing and mitigating risks and implementing relevant safeguards when undertaking any maintenance or intervention activity, working in a safe manner in accordance with relevant legislation, codes, procedures and accepted best practice, leading by example, and deploying a duty of care to oneself and others.
• To execute efficient and effective reactive maintenance to process interruptions or abnormalities, and to engage with the shift operational team in any other requested capacity, in order to contribute to shift and plant performance objectives.
• To undertake planned preventative maintenance and improvement activities according to the work schedule.
• To develop own process knowledge and technical expertise in designated manufacturing processes, contributing to standardisation, optimisation, improvement, and diagnostics initiatives such as PLC interrogation, Root Cause Analysis covering set-up, operation and maintenance.
• To ensure that work is always undertaken to a high technical and professional standard, including where necessary supervising the work of others to ensure standards, quality and fulfilment.
• To record all appropriate activity and observations in the SAP CMMS with sufficient technical detail to support later analyses.
• Provide an active contribution to the activities and responsibilities of the engineering department, supporting and providing cover for colleagues where required.
• Shift handovers via SAP to ensure safe & effective transition of work tasks & shift activities.
• Perform effective LOTOTO (Lock Out, Test Out & Tag Out) procedures and issuing of appropriate permits to work.
• Anything commensurate to complete your role.

• Good communication skills with peers, colleagues and contractors.
• You must be able to work autonomously but also be an active part of the team.
• Computer literate.
