Job summary

Tarmac, a CRH company, is seeking a Shift Electrician for our Linford site in Stanford-le-Hope. The role involves daily and night shift maintenance on production machinery, with emphasis on planned and reactive maintenance of block manufacturing plant.

You will work as part of a team, record activities in the CMMS, and ensure SHE standards are met. The ideal candidate will have an recognised electrical apprenticeship, experience with automation controls and motors, and 17th edition BS7671.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised apprenticeship in electrical engineering.
• Experience with maintenance/replacement of automation control systems (motors, drives, contactors).
• 17th edition BS7671 wiring regulations knowledge.
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens S5/S7) is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day maintenance on production machinery (PPM and reactive).
• Meet statuary and SHE standards as a minimum.
• Cover a shift role across multiple plant areas as directed.
• Record all work on the CMMS system.
• Work in a dynamic, self-motivated and well‑communicated manner.

We are currently looking for a Shift Electrician to join our team in Linford, Stanford-le-Hope. The shift patterns are: Days - 6am - 6pm, Nights - 6pm - 6am

Main Responsibilities

In the role of Shift Electrician you will be responsible for:

• Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance activities which include planned preventative and reactive maintenance on production machinery in manufacture of Aircrete block or other similar products.
• Meet statuary and SHE standards as a minimum.
• This is a shift role, working on a variety of plant throughout the block manufacturing site as directed on a planned or reactive basis.
• You will be required to record all work on the site CMMS system
• This is a dynamic role, mostly self-motivated and self-supervised with good communication skills

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Shift Electrician will have experience of:

• Manufacturing background beneficial
• Completed a recognised apprenticeship in electrical engineering.
• Experience of maintaining/replacement of automation control systems including motors, inverter drives, contactors etc
• Successfully completed 17th edition BS7671 wiring regulations
• PLC programming qualifications Siemens S5 and S7 (desirable but not essential)
• Fault-finding skills
• Basic computer skills
