Job summary

Biffa Ltd is hiring a Shift Fitter for Poplars AD Plant in Cannock Chase. You will report to the Shift Supervisor and perform both planned and reactive maintenance to keep the anaerobic digestion facility running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include fault diagnosis, repairs, supporting installation work, and driving reliability and continuous improvement while coordinating with contractors and operations teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Mechanical or Electrical Fitter role.
  • Experience in a fast-paced process/manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.

Job description

We're looking for a skilled Shift Fitter to join our team at Poplars AD Plant. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you'll play a key role in keeping our anaerobic digestion facility running safely, efficiently and reliably through proactive maintenance and rapid fault response. Your core responsibilities

  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across the plant.
  • Diagnose faults quickly and carry out effective repairs.

  • Drive plant reliability, uptime and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with operations teams to minimise downtime.
  • Coordinate specialist maintenance activities with contractors.

  • Support preventative maintenance programmes and root cause analysis.
    Minimum 2 years' experience in a Mechanical or Electrical Fitter role.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced process, manufacturing, waste, water or industrial environment.
  • Understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.
  • Ability to prioritise and respond effectively to breakdowns.
  • Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification preferred.
