Job summary

DS Smith Packaging site in Ely is seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical or electrical bias who can operate across disciplines to improve asset reliability. The role is hands-on and fast-paced, reporting to Engineering Team Leader/Manager, with responsibilities including preventative maintenance, quality control, and adherence to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified multi-skilled maintenance technician (NVQ Level 3 or BTEC).
• Mechanical and Electrical training with 18th Edition.
• Experience with PPM implementation and maintenance planning.
• Background in fast-paced, multi-shift manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure maintenance activity meets quality standards and targets.
• Follow and enforce cost controls in maintenance tasks.
• Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance; feed back reports.
• Identify and source parts through the engineering Team Leader.
• Perform dynamic risk assessments on maintenance tasks.
• Control stocks of materials and consumables.
• Be familiar with stop devices and procedures on equipment.
• Maintain high standards across all factory areas.
