Job summary

Stagecoach Barnstaple is hiring a proactive Bus/PSV Mechanic to join our friendly depot team. Whether you come from a truck, HGV, automotive, plant or rail background, you’ll work on a modern and varied fleet, including electric vehicles, with ongoing training as technology and vehicle systems evolve.

You’ll maintain and repair buses to DVSA and Stagecoach safety standards, diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults, conduct servicing and roadside repairs, and support apprentices by

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in HGV or PSV Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience working on commercial or specialist vehicles.
• A safety-first attitude and strong attention to detail.
• A team player with good communication skills.
• Previous experience working on buses or large passenger vehicles (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and repairing our fleet of buses to DVSA and Stagecoach safety standards.
• Diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
• Carrying out routine inspections, servicing, and occasional roadside repairs.

Salary

Pay rate of £24.10 per hour for shift engineer (5 shifts per week totalling 39 hours a week) Enhanced rate of pay for overtime.
